Lock & Twist Gel Review.

Please note. This post has been reworked from a previous post in 2009.

Organic Root Stimulator Lock and Twist Gel

I hadn't used the Organic Root Stimulator Lock & Twist GEL in a while and decided to try it out again. It's OK. Did I get an incredibly wonderful hold from it? Certainly not. Did it leave my hair soft? Relatively, but not for long. The gel promises no flakes and Organic Root Stimulator delivers. I've never received any flaking from using this gel.

Please note - this is not a regular hair gel. It is recommended for use to help set locks and twists.

Organic Root Stimulator Lock and Twist Gel on Medium-length natural hair. (2009)

I used it on dry hair but it is probably best used on wet hair. This is a problem if you prefer to style on dry hair. Why? This product makes dry stretched hair limp. If you use it on wet hair, however, if will definitely be a lot more plump though it will shrink.

I tried retwisting with this product on locks in the past year (2012). It doesn't give me enough hold and my hair unravels even before a wash. Nevertheless, a lot of other people have had much success with this product. It simply don't hold on my hair. If you are looking for a light hold or you aren't concerned with hold, this is your product.

You will still need another product for daily moisturizing. The top three ingredients are Water, Coconut Milk extract and Soybean Oil so I don't think it's too bad but you have to decide if the rest of ingredients are to your taste. I know many of you prefer all-natural products so do a little more research online if that is what you're looking for because this product is not all-natural. It's not too bad but I'd rather use my Cantu Shea Butter Coconut Curling Cream for my twists. It leaves my hair very moisturised for a much longer time.

  1. I actually use this on hubby's loce. When I used it on my hair, it made my hair to soft and my hair couldn't even stay in a twist! I won't use it for me anymore but I'll definitely keep it for hubby since it works for him.

  3. Hey Nicki. This is definitely a great option. A lot of people with locks use it and get minimal flaking. Let me know if you try it out. I'm not sure if it's that good for laying down edges but you could probably apply it then put a scarf on at night to keep the edges tamed between her retightenings.

  4. I agree, it doesnt have much of a hold and left my hair slightly hard but still soft. Definetly left a shine. My theory is it didnt work well with my leave in conditioner which is cantu shea butter leave in conditioner therefore i'll try it without the conditioner and hope it works well
